9. Geographical Information System(GIS)
There is a job opening for Professor of Justice Studies(GIS), Spatial and Statistical Analysis at Winston-Salem State U in North Carolina for a PhD in criminal justice, criminology, sociology or related field from an accredited institution. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in spatial analysis and geographic information system(GIS) technology.

That is one application of GIS-not just the criminals with ankle tag whose movement is monitored with the GIS which has GPS or geophysical Positioning system and also the contraband radioactive sources and machines, toxic chemicals and metals etc.

Someday, most if not all hazardous substances can be monitored by GIS, including radioactive, chemically toxic, reactive, inflammable and corrosive, e.g. chemicals, fuels, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polyimide, polystyrene, polyurethane, polymethylmethacrylate, benzene, toluene, xylene, nitrous oxide, sulfur dioxide, and biochemically toxic agents such as nerve gas agents, anthrax, possible plant pathogens, etc. Also asbestos?, fiberglass?, acrylic?

Perhaps GIS can locate earthquake faults, potential climatological factors that will lead to adverse environmental and weather conditions etc.

10. The New Elements in the Periodic Table of Elements, http://www.dayah.com/periodic/
which is described in http://www.freewebs.com/ftcuatableofelements/ and http://homepage.mac.com/dtrapp/Elements/combination2.html

Question 1: What is the Relative Biological Effectiveness of the new elements? Quality Factor? Index of Harm?
The question is with very short half life that was not detected and catalogued or studied, how do you obtain the RBE, QF, Index of Harm etc. See National Council of Radiation Protection(NCRP) documents.

Question 2: Is there a need to bother with the very short half-life? Perhaps the answer is theoretically yes because the energies and radioactive, physical, chemical, biological hazards would have been released and spent already leading to medical problems that was not identified vis a vis that particular "element" etc.

Question 3: Is there a way to do epidemiological studies of the new elements? Can we do whole body counting, bioassay like urinalysis and fecal analysis and the more dainty teeth, nails, hairs, salivas or sputum etc. also analysis of blood,

Question 4: Is there a need to extend Transuranium Registry to the New Elements?

Question 5: How about for the toxic elements and substances like Pb, Cd, Hg, As, what else?

In the nuclear fusion reaction in the sun that we call solar flares and solar winds, also at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab, in the nuclear fission reaction during the nuclear weapon detonation in the Hiroshima, Nagasaki, testings by the Americans, Russians, Chinese, French, English, Indians, Pakistanis, who else? there are energy releases and linear energy transfer and energy losses and production of new radionucllides which has a distinctive radiotoxicity and chemical toxicity being new or old elements that can be detected by methods in consonance with flash photolysis originally invented by Dr. Manfred Eigen and his two colleagues, Dr. Ronald Norris and Dr. George Porter, died in the 80s, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1967. LET alpha, beta, gamma, x-ray, neutron, proton, alpha, heavy ion, star aggregates, fission track etch and spectrometer can detect all these before nsec, or faster or slower time lapsed or decay period. Flash photolysis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Flash photolysis is a pump-probe technique, in which a laser of nanosecond, picosecond, or femtosecond pulse width is excited by a short-pulse light source such as a flash lamp. The technique was developed in 1949 by Manfred Eigen, Ronald George Wreyford Norrish and George Porter , who won the 1967 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this invention.
Flash photolysis was developed shortly after World War II as a result of the military attempts to build cameras fast enough to photograph missiles in flight. As an analytical technique it was introduced to scientists by Manfred Eigen, Ronald Norrish and George Porter, who jointly won the 1967 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this invention. Within the past 40 years the technique became more powerful and sophisticated due to the developments in optics and lasers. Also the interest in this method grew considerably as the practical applications expanded from chemistry to biology, materials science, environmental sciences, etc. Nowadays flash photolysis facilities are extensively used by researchers to study light induced processes in organic molecules, polymers, nanoparticles, semiconductors, photosynthesis in plants, signaling and light induced conformational changes in biological systems, etc.

US Grants Gov

Letters from Home

Dear Flo,

This morning, I received from the CHSAF the
payment of the Molly Vivian Huang 6 tapes we left at
the CHSAF Office when you were here. Do you recall? We
went there, isn't it? 250phpx6=1500. This brings our
savings (+1500 frm the booth sales) to 3000. I still
have the 20$ you gave through Diana Gobio. We didnt
spend it with Kate and the students who helped in the
BT-project. We are saving because the students want to
take the BT kids to the sea to play. You said before
you wanted the kids to bathe in the sea, remember,
when I was with you in the States? I hope we can save
enough by selling again some of your stuff on Feb 29.
By the way, we have another activity with them(BT)on
Feb.29;they will present a play(BT Kids), and together
with the CHS students present the research on "Forced
Rescue", where the street communities (together with
the kids) are driven away from the streets to a
refugee building. The problem they said is that they
are dealt with harshly, like kicking them. There will
be students from different schools who will be invited
to CHS. This is part of our advocacy: "Change the
world. Love Children." My sked is so hectic Feb.
15-17. We have Institutional Review and Planning with
Sr. Ancille, the Deans, and Area Chairs. The past
days, I had to organize my data presentation.
Itutuloy....HAPPY VALENTINEs DAy! We remember you
fondly and always. Sr. Clare is here. Regards... Take

This will expose your true age......

-- *Shared by William M. Esposo*

Panciteria Moderna was the place to go for pancit
miki and miki bihon
already wrapped in their version of "tetra pak".
Pancit bihon was the
specialty of Panciteria Wa Nam.

At Ma Mon Luk siopao was at 30 centavos; mami was at
70 centavos or 2 pcs
of siomai (large) with unlimited soup was at 30
centavos. So with one peso
busog ka na.

The Shangri-la in the basement of Shelborne Hotel
(at the back) was the
place to go for dates if you wanted a dark and cozy
atmosphere. The Embers
(in Cubao) of Bert Nievera was also popular. The
Black Angel along Shaw
Blvd near the corner of Kalentong in Mandaluyong was
a very good place to
listen to soft music (e.g. Fleetwoods, etc) and the
lights were also quite
low. With Php 30- 50 in your pocket you were in
pretty good shape for a

"Bakuran" was the in-thing at parties with
"screening" from a friend to
assist you in getting a dance with a girl who was
very sought after.

Wack-Wack, the Sky Room in Jai-Alai, the penthouse
of the Rufino Bldg. as
well as the penthouse of the Sarmiento Bldg right
opposite it were the
favorite places for proms and balls. Sikat ang event
if the Hi-Jacks; the
Electromaniacs or the Technicolors was the "combo"
playing. Alta Vista
along Roxas Blvd. was the favorite place for
wedding receptions at
Php 8.50per cover!

Special ringside seats for performances at the
Araneta Coliseum were at Php
5.00 per. So with Php 20.00 you could safely invite
someone and still have
enough for a snack afterwards or a game of "putt and
putt" at the mini-golf
place located at the back of Araneta.

During early 60's, 5centavos and 10 centavos ang
bayad sa jeep. Manila and
Suburbs ang lahat ng biyahe ng jeep noon na 3seater
lang at pitpit ka
pagbata ka pagsumakay ka. Sa Avenida Rizal at Sta.
Cruz, Blumentritt,
Tayuman, San Roque Church, Espiritu Santo Church,
Grace Park at monumento
ang mga sikat na lugar.

Yung Good Earth Emporium pwede ring idagdag sa mga
magagandang shopping
mall noong araw. Yung Manila Grand Opera house,
Odeon, Hollywood, Cinerama,
Ideal, State, Lyric, Capitol ang mga sikat na
sinehan noon. Sa Q.C ay sikat
yung Max's Chicken at Dayrit. Ang dollar rate noon
ay 3.70Php sa 1$ ang
palitan.

Xmas season. Noon walang chippy at potato chips,
ang merienda ay banana
cue, camote cue, palitaw, biko, pinipig, halo-halo,
carioca, pilipit,
butsi, hopiang hapon, hopiang munggo, hopiang baboy,
bibingka, puto,
cassava, cake o budin, suman at mani.

May I add: Hallili Beer (sold to the Sorianos), Tody
chocolate drink in
cans, Horlicks malted milk tablets; Hallili bus,
Super (dog logo) Transit,
Yujuico, JD & MD buses; ShoeMart Carriedo (the first
SM) followed by 2nd
ShoeMart beside Ideal Theater and fourth was SM
Echague with a revolving
restaurant at the top floor.

Safari Club beside Manila Zoo at the height of the
"Twist" craze,
Dance-O-Rama with Pete Roa & Baby O'Brien, Jam
Session every 6PM on

Now anyone who missed those days can't really claim
they've seen and tasted
the best. Every generation has its own set of
"Aces". Do you recall when:
You tasted Fres Gusto, Cosmos "Sarsi" Sarsaparilla,
RC Cola, Yes Cola,
Teem, Darigold Evap, Liberty Condensada, Choco Vim,
Sunkist Orange (in
tetra packs), Magnolia Chocolait, (pronounced
chocolight), Klim (the word
"milk" spelled backwards), Big 20 Hamburgers,
Foot-long hotdog, Tweet &
Jiggs Candies(by Mr. Krieger), Sugus Candies,
Tootsie Roll, Serg' s
Chocolate, Blenda Margarine, kerosene-flavored
popcorn and kropeck along
Dewey Blvd, dirty ice cream, Magnolia Ice Cream
sandwich, Selecta ice cream
(now Arce Dairy) and their fresh carabao's milk,
Magnolia popsicles in
orange, chocolate and langka flavors, Sison Ice
Drops in monggo, and buko
flavors, Milky Way's buko sherbet, Acme Supermarket'
s sundaes and Coney
Island's 32 flavors?

You went to: Syvel's, Assandas, Arcegas at the
Maranaw Arcade, Funhouse at
Bricktown, Aguinaldo, Erehwon Bookstore, Alemars
Bookstore, Bookmark, Botica
Boie, Makati Supermarket (in Makati!), Rizal
Theater (with its spacious
lobby) with D'Bankers Barbershop and Leila's Coffee
Shop, Tropical Hut (and
its hamburger), Acme Supermarket, Cherry Foodarama,
The Regent of Manila,
Hotel Mabuhay, Manila Hilton, Christmas carnival
(where Dusit Hotel now
stands), Villa Pansol and Lido Beach?

Rizal what?" "Who would be crazy to build a cinema
in the middle of
nowhere?" It turned out to be the best theater in
the city of Makati (at
the same site now occupied by Shangri-La Hotel).

And ate at: The original A&W along UN Avenue in
Manila, Aristocrat across
Malate Church, Italian Village, café Valenzuela,
Bonanza Restaurant, Brown
Derby, Little Quiapo, Country Bake Shop, Selecta
Restaurants (owned by the
Arce family), Taza de Oro; New Europe, Madrid,
Cucina Italiana, La Cibeles
at A. Mabini, The Plaza, Jade Garden Restaurant,
Luau, The Makati Automat,
Sulo Restaurant (in Makati), Makati Fastfood Center
(the first ever),
Bulakena, Casa Marcos, Au Bon Vivant, Salambao
Restaurant, Dairy Queen
along Buendia, Di Mark's Pizza, the elegant dining
room of the old Army &
Navy Club. Botica Boie in Escolta, Albas in Florida,
Malate Brown Derby and
their signature foot-long hotdog came with its
special, extra tarty mustard
sauce and a hot, crispy bun. We used to park at
their drive-in bays after
we were exhausted from all-night partying but with
enough energy to gobble
down sausages and soft drinks.

The Plaza was the favorite venue for all formal
school and social
functions. Food was not a big factor so long as cozy
couples could have
their special table for two.

You shopped at: Escolta, Harrison Plaza (when it was
still clean and had
the bump cars), Ali Mall, Rustan's in San Marcelino,
Aguinaldo's in Cubao,
Quezon City; Shoemart in Makati was a small,
split-level affair.

The original Rustan's was the garage of the
Tantoco's residential house
which was eventually converted into a dazzling shop
filled with eclectic
things and collectibles.

Blockbuster movies were: Love Story, Mahogany,
Saturday Night Fever,
Grease, Planet of the Apes, Star Wars, Logan's Run,
Battlestar Galactica,
Paper Chase, Enter The Dragon, Jaws, Towering
Inferno, Poseidon Adventure,
Carrie, Willard (theme song was Ben sang by a young
Michael Jackson),
Exorcist, Love Bug, Tinimbang Ka Nguni't Kulang.

You wore, carried or used Denman brush tucked in
your back pants pocket,
Jordache and Sassoon jeans, Bata rubber shoes, Botak
running shoes, Ace
flexible comb, Ace clutchbag, Carrera shades,
Ray-Ban, Photochromic and
Ambermatic shades, Foster Grant sunglasses,
Alaskin, tie-dye shirts and
pants, double-knit pants, Sergio Valente, Vidal
Sassoon, Fiorucci, Banlon,
Ye-ye Vonnel shirts, Nik-Nik, Bang-Bang, Faded
Glory, Jazzie, Puma Topfit,
Tiger Onitsuka, Happy Feet, clogs, Wet look shoes,
Pierre Cardin, Brut,
Jovan musk oil, Aramis, platform shoes with
bell-bottom pants and
wide-buckled belts.

You had your hair styled or permed by: Flavio and
Carmen, Nomer's, Lita
Rio, Grace Lagman, Dick & Lucy, and Kayumanggi. That
was the time of Aqua
Net stiff, foot-high beehives, French twist and
Kiss Me liquid eye liners
and Pretty Quik instant facial blotters.

You sang: Bobby, Bobby, Bobby by Jo Ann Campbell,
Someday by Ricky Nelson,
And I Love Her by the Beatles, Cherish by the
Association, Because by Dave
Clark Five, Distant Shores by Chad and Jeremy, Rainy
Days & Mondays by the
Carpenters, You've Got a Friend by Carol King,
Hundred Miles by Peter, Paul
and Mary, Evergreen by Paul Williams.

Saved whole month's allowance P50 to watch the
Beatles perform live at
Rizal Memorial Coliseum in 1965.

It was hip to listen to: Bingo Lacson and Jo San
Diego (past midnight) of
DZMT, the singing sensations from Ateneo de Manila?
RJ and the Riots, The
Loonilarks, Joe Mari Chan and the APO Hiking Society
and dance to live
combo music garbed in cocktail dresses and dark

DZMT was affiliated with the Manila Times and was
the only broadcast
station that stayed on the air past midnight. Jo San
Diego was their anchor
woman (she with the velvety bedroom voice).

And danced at: Manila Hotel's Jungle Bar, Stargazer,
Bayside Night Club
(with live music by the Carding Cruz band), and the
Nile (and the Italian
singing group Five n' Fives), Queue Disco, Circuit
Disco, Where else?
Altitude 49, Delirium (in Greenbelt), D'Flame,
Rino's, and Velvet Slum, Wells
Fargo, and Coco Banana.

After graduation, jam sessions were replaced by
night clubs and Bayside was
the place to go for live bands and non-stop dancing.

Do you remember when: Dollar to peso exchange rate
was $1 = P7, Walang
Tindigan buses charged a flat rate of

P1, Love Bus fare was P1.50, family size Shakey's
Pizza cost less than P40,
Malate streets were named after US States
(Pennsylvania, Colorado, etc.);
Paranaque, San Juan, Makati, Pasig, Las Pinas,
Taguig, Pateros and
Muntinlupa were municipalities of Rizal province;
DLSU was De La Salle
College, Poveda was Institucion Teresiana, Adamson
University was the
original St. Theresa's campus, Robinsons mall was
the Assumption Convent
campus, Petron was Esso, Villamor Air Base was then
known as Nichols Air
;Base, bancas were aplenty in the Baclaran side of
Dewey Blvd. (now Roxas
Blvd.) and traffic was non-existent in Tagaytay.

PLDT telephone numbers were five digits and you used
your index finger to
dial a number one at a time.

If you remember all these things, you're history in
great company and I
dare say, happy to be.

Since the writer was fleeting between two
generations (60's-70"s), you
party goers surely remember the DynaSouls (dubbed
the Beatles of the
Philippines), The Tilt Down Men (The Sotto brothers,
Tito, & Val, favored
the Dave Clark 5) Jaime Jose & the Deltas*
(remember Maggie Dela Riva?)
What about gate crashing a "Tipar" (for party) and
the ensuing rumble
between feuding barkadas: The Havocs, Combat*, &
Exotics, meron pang
kanya-kanyang busina (car honking id).

Remember BMI (Baguio Military Institute)? That
school was a dumping ground
for kicked out students from Manila and kids that
needed discipline. Let us
not forget ang mga taga "Baste" (San Sebastian).
Ang daming siga noong

Sure you remember playing Pelota... And drag racing
along Ortigas and
behind Meralco..

Sikat ka sa barkada kung may "syota" (girl friend)
kang "Colegiala"
(Assumption, STC, St. Scho, Maryknoll, Holy Spirit;
and the other schools -
St. Paul's, St. Joseph, Centro Escolar ). As proof,
you should be wearing
her high school ring in your pinkie finger...And
dapat karta 9 ...You
probably took her out to the Butterfly (at UP) to
listen to folk songs and
sip Butterfly Iced Tea.

Did you get to date a "chick" from Brent (Baguio)
and IS (Makati)?

Of course you should have enough cash for the gaso
(gas), tsibog
(food/dinner), cover charge/drinks at the Flame or
Rino's, konting damo,
and for the finale, enough datong (cash) para sa
"biglang liko". Or kung
gipit for cash, park at the huge lot of Folk Arts
and just do it in the
car...Kaya lang dapat may "Tapwe" (Singkuwenta
pesos) pang lagay sa parak
(police), and a handy calling card of a military
officer with a hand
written note in the back that "you should be given
utmost courtesy"...

Ideas Work to Do continued
1. Alternative to Nanosatellites or regular Satellites for Telecommunications and Weather Tracking and underground or overground fiber optics, cables and wires telecommunication and weather stations.

Reason: The Chinese had caught up to the Americans and Russians with respect to blowing up an old Chinese satellite in outer space.

Reason: Taiwan undersea cable-fiber optics used for telecommunications was disrupted by an earthquake in the Sea of Taiwan.
Ayala Land BPO outsourcing lost money that way.

2. Should we resurrect the Star Wars rhetorics of the early ? years?

I came to the USA in 1975, August 22.

3. NanoMedicine-Bionanotechnology-cure for cancer at the nano and molecular and micron level, molecular manufacturing, repair of chromosome aberrations, repair of cystic fibrosis fouled up genes, sickle cell anemia, and tay sachs, I think...
I am a physicist not a biologist, perhaps I can be a biophysicist or radiation biophysicist.

read at your leisure; you want to join me in my coconut plantation

4. Way back when, the Department of Interior and Department of Agriculture planted 6000 coconut young saplings in the Marshall Islands, Bikini. Check with them. The top soil that were radioactive were replaced by US "clean" soils. The roots of the coconut trees extended beyond the "clean" soils to the radioactive soil. The coconut are radioactive. Cs-137 has a half life of 30 years, Sr-90 of 28 years, and Pu-239 24100.0 Years. The Brookhaven National Lab Marshall Islands Radiological Program under the directorship of Dr. Casper Sun found Uranium and Thorium in the soils. Oak Ridge National Lab and Los Alamos National Lab and Brookhaven Nat Lab and Argonne Nat Lab found those present in the Marshall Islands teeth by macrodistribution studies and me by microdistribution studies before Dr. Casper Sun did.

There was a sort of cover up on the Marshall Island problems.

5. Nuclear Reprocessing is frought with problems like in Paduccah, Kentucky.

6. Please assign more people to the correlation among volcanic eruption and climatological changes and earthquakes.

7. Please assign more people to the effects of nuclear underground weapon testings and tsunami and earthquakes.

8. Please also assign more people to NanoBiofuels and NanoSolar and other forms of NanoEnergy.

9. Among the cancer victims, how many are due to smoking, radon, nuclear overground explosion by the US, USSR, UK, France, China, etc.

10. How many more Nuclear Waste Dump will be created by Nuclear Underground Explosion?

11. We pray, they prey.
We are sacred but why are we scared.
Is right is might or might is right?
Do we still have compunction or is it just compulsion?
If we cannot coexist how can we exist?
Existing is not Living.
Do we muddle through the day?
They are smut; we are Smart.
Does God give us so much trials and tribulations like Job that we cannot cope? Is this the difference between the Jews and the Catholics-Christians or ???
Boorishness is not Polite.
Let us be on our best behavior to our beloved. To the enemies we can be as crummy, paltry, and mean.
Your is Yours, Mine is Mine, Ours is Ours, Yours is Mine, Mine is Yours, Yours is Ours and Ours is Mine, or is it Yours, Mine, and Ours.

Dear Florence,

I'm in. And I'm in to win.

Today I am announcing that I will form an exploratory committee to run for president.

And I want you to join me not just for the campaign but for a conversation about the future of our country -- about the bold but practical changes we need to overcome six years of Bush administration failures.

I am going to take this conversation directly to the people of America, and I'm starting by inviting all of you to join me in a series of web chats over the next few days.

The stakes will be high when America chooses a new president in 2008.

As a senator, I will spend two years doing everything in my power to limit the damage George W. Bush can do. But only a new president will be able to undo Bush's mistakes and restore our hope and optimism.

Only a new president can renew the promise of America -- the idea that if you work hard you can count on the health care, education, and retirement security that you need to raise your family. These are the basic values of America that are under attack from this administration every day.

And only a new president can regain America's position as a respected leader in the world.

I believe that change is coming November 4, 2008. And I am forming my exploratory committee because I believe that together we can bring the leadership that this country needs. I'm going to start this campaign with a national conversation about how we can work to get our country back on track.

This is a big election with some very big questions. How do we bring the war in Iraq to the right end? How can we make sure every American has access to adequate health care? How will we ensure our children inherit a clean environment and energy independence? How can we reduce the deficits that threaten Social Security and Medicare?

No matter where you live, no matter what your political views, I want you to be a part of this important conversation right at the start. So to begin, I'm going to spend the next several days answering your questions in a series of live video web discussions. Starting Monday, January 22, at 7 p.m. EST for three nights in a row, I'll sit down to answer your questions about how we can work together for a better future. And you can participate live at my website.

Sign up to join the conversation here: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/action/conversation

I grew up in a middle-class family in the middle of America, where I learned that we could overcome every obstacle we face if we work together and stay true to our values.
I have worked on issues critical to our country almost all my life. I've fought for children for more than 30 years. In Arkansas, I pushed for education reform. As first lady, I helped to expand health care coverage to millions of children and to pass legislation that dramatically increased adoptions. I also traveled to China to affirm that women's rights are human rights.

And in the Senate, I have worked across party lines to get billions more for children's health care, to stop the president's plan to privatize Social Security, and to make sure the victims and heroes of 9/11 and our men and women in uniform receive the fair treatment they deserve. In 2006, I led the successful fight to make Plan B contraception available to women without a prescription.

I have spent a lifetime opening opportunities for tens of millions who are working hard to raise a family: new immigrants, families living in poverty, people who have no health care or face an uncertain retirement.

The promise of America is that all of us will have access to opportunity, and I want to run a 2008 campaign that renews that promise, a campaign built on a lifetime record of results.

I have never been afraid to stand up for what I believe in or to face down the Republican machine. After nearly $70 million spent against my campaigns in New York and two landslide wins, I can say I know how Washington Republicans think, how they operate, and how to beat them.

I need you to be a part of this campaign, and I hope you'll start by joining me in this national conversation. Visit my new website at HillaryClinton.com to learn how you can join in:

As we campaign to win the White House, we will make history and remake our future. We can only break barriers if we dare to confront them, and if we have the determined and committed support of others.

This campaign is our moment, our chance to stand up for the principles and values that we cherish; to bring new ideas, energy, and leadership to a uniquely challenging time. It's our chance to say "we can" and "we will."

Let's go to work. America's future is calling us.

Dr. Peter Armbruster, et al. anything to add? anything new?

Perhaps we can time travel through the creation of the universe, all the events, nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, solar flares, with our detectors then find out if anything new or synthetic that we make are just replications?

May I have the email of Dr. Paul Hoffman?

Geographic Information System

how do you measure nanosecond half life?

new elements ---Germany and Russia and the USA are inching along in their research to prove the existence of "new" elements that could have been formed years ago by nuclear fusion, nuclear fission, and combinations like in the thermonuclear explosions and the US, USSR, France, UK, and China etc. nuclear weapons overground and India, Pakistan and North Korea underground explosions

i have track etch dating back to 1979 that has star aggregates, many sizes fission tracks, pits, heavy ions like recoils registered in the Lexan Polycarbonate, neutrons, protons, decay products,

By the way, my good friend at Goddard Space Flight Center Dr. Josefino Comiso is one of the awardee with the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change that won the Nobel Peace Prize 2007 with Vice President Al Gore.

How about remote sensing to map elements, radiation using NaI(Tl), metal detectors, GIS systems, chemicals too, oil, and how do you get them out of the earth without a spade or backhoe?

how about minimally invasive surgery or non invasive surgery?

I wonder if Lithium-6 which is a detector for neutrons and Lithium-7 which is a detector for gamma can be used in space or intercontinental flight incorporated in a battery charging mode to use what radiation is out there; would depend on the solar flares intensities and frequencies and orbital inclinations and shieldings; if you can prevent single event upsets, discharging, couldn't you power a full bodied battery outercasing that will activate a propulsion engine inside heat shields; you know if you can convert mechanical to electric, chemical to electric, and charge the batteries, why not heat or friction?

NASA John Glenn Material Science and Engineering is looking at propulsion 6x faster than the current jets

do you know what the PROC did to their old weather satellites? what? replace it with newer after they ram it out and created space debris

I am a grandaunt again, Jan. 15, 2008, Jeanine Cua---her parents are both nurses. how do you stand on the Hillary Clinton for President campaign?

1. how do we map terrestrial radiation, chemicals, toxic metals, aerosols, fishes in the sea, iron in the fire, the dusts in the stormy deserts, waterways and byways, wells, oil, coal, and others including the new elements without touching the environment? what to do with exotic animals, pandas, and polar bears and penguins other than giving us and them honorifics?

multigamma emitters, e.g. Fiedler NaI(Tl)
multineutrons emitters, bonner spheres and LiI(Eu)

How would a Lithium Ion Battery fare under a neutron and gamma environment? depends on the radionuclide of Lithium?

Young lady to Sister Mary, “ Episcopalians have female priest” to which the Monsignor said to the young lady, “Would you want to be a nun?”

A priest said to a Catholic parishioner, “ You don’t confess a sin more than once. You have already been absolved.

I know a Methodist minister’s daughter who was educated in a Catholic school but because she vowed to follow her parents remain a Protestant.
I am Catholic, convent bred and practicing. I told her not to find faults in the Catholic Church anymore and instead go ecumenical because finding faults is debasing both the Catholics and the Methodists. We pray for each other and are both vanguard in our respective Churches. She helped me conquer my self doubts and educated me being a teacher. I told her not to prejudice, to reach out to the good ones more than the bad ones. We conquest the evils together.

I have a younger sister who I love very much. She was pregnant at the tiem I was. However, I had a miscarruage. She had a premature kid who had to live through 1 month in an incubator. He is fine now. We prayed a lot during that time. The story I am telling is about my love for her. I felt a certain mental heat one time and to prevent her from feeling it I told her. “The nun is looking at you”. “The AIDS researcher is looking at me.” Sure enough, my husband comes home with a consulting job for blood borne pathogen protection program that is bringing a good sum when it is approved. I am helping them now. We both revel at our faith in each other and with God, my sister and me. The nuns tell us to pray for those with AIDS.

My friends in St. A Church are from all racial background. Mrs. H is of black, American Indian, and Scottish background who was one of the “apostles at the Holy Thursday celebration”.
Mrs. E is an Italian woman who has been to Rome twice. Mr. SM, Mrs. MC, Mrs. FM are all Filipino-Filipinas and I am Filipina Chinese. We four attended the Papal Mass celebrated at the Giant Stadium. We clean the pews in Church, pray the rosary, attend the daily masses, attend the convocations which the St. A school children attend. There are Irish, Hungarian, Polish and other parishioners. The camaraderie is great and the praying is keen and rewarding. We hurdled the racial differences when there is lost souls to be prayed for and poor to be helped and during fundraising. It has been a good prayerful group.

I chose my husband over another suitor because whereas Bob was a strict Methodist who wouldn’t let me practive my Catholic faith, Ed is faxed Presbyterian who would let me do so. He also accompanies me to the Catholic Masses on Sundays. He sits while I kneel. He sings because he has a good voice. I pray over him a lot and during our sleep together. He pays attention to the homilies and makes comments afterwards. He counts the number of Catholics and tells his mother who is an elder in her Presbyterian Church. I read the Catechism of the Catholic Church to him. He utterly believes in the Resurrection and the life hereafter. I am latchhooking Jesus is my Savior after finishing Jesus the Good Shepherd, the Praying Hands, and the Flame and the Cross.

On Kwajalein in Oct. 1977 or was it Sept. 23, I saw a film “The Island of Dr. Morrow” where the “spiritually” misled doctor turned animals into human beings with his biochemical experiments. They eventually reverted back to beasts and killed them. His experiments failed because the complexities in the human realm is too much for the animal. These are the exquisite as well as raw emotions, love and hate, aspirations and disillusionments and others more sublime and human qualities.

It is evolutionary theory and God is very much alive in the hearts of men. Is that statement a contradiction? You tell me.

Self sufficiency is something I will inculcate in the children.

Is self-sufficiency similar to primeval instincts of survival?

The latter is part of the former.

Is this true or not? Is this negative or positive?

I haven’t been removed of my vestiges of colonialism and American hero worship. I have just become one of them in some areas to some extent.

Look at a trolley connected to the electricasl cable on rails! What if there is lines fo knowledge input “cables” that our mine can connect to enhance our knowledge.

That will feed our brains with information at a rate or speed commensurate with each individual’s capacity.

Imagine how it will facilitate exchanges of information. It can regulate sleep as well as utilize the sleeping hours for mild input of relaxing thoughts and help those who are insomniac. The growing years could be input coupled with play.

Osmosis is not such a bad idea either. However there should be a mechanism against the osmosis of pain and bad thoughts and feelings.

Brain antennas, albeit they remind us of the Martian TV show, is not such a bad idea.

Mental telepathy had been studied for a long time, can it be with others that would nor make them destructive or negative. We need to be with those who will not harm us mentally or psychically.

How would you know what another person thinks if he or she doesn’t verbalize or express their thoughts?

Mind linking maybe possible in the future.

The only way the human brain can be used as a computer without detriment in the person is if the person is in control of the situation. There is no other person except perhaps the most altruistic and benign parent or guardian or teacher who can guide a brain and all that is attendant ot the mind.

This is the scenario.

If ones uses the brain as a computer and make it part of a large think tank; one can contribute to the think tank however the “ manipulator” might damage the ego, change the innate uniqueness of the person, deprecate the individual entitites, and subvert the person to the manipulator’s commands, unless there is a check and balance and the person is able to counteract the manipulator’s evil commands.

This would make objects out of the person and make him a nonpersons. This could lead to the person ceasing to exist in his or other people’s mind. The humiliation of the vanquish that goes attendant to the power play could cripple the mind, the senses, the innate goodness, the wholesomeness, the integral uniqueness of the person not to mention the physical, moral, and societal values.

Being a pawn and a peon is not a laughing matter, actually it is. You get laughed at. To be controlled or to control, that is the question. Or is it to live and let live. These are clichés but they make the point.

The above is called mental cruelty as a result of power play?

That is the Big Brother You and Using you Syndrome or Stockholm Syndrome all over again.

How do you stop something like that from happening?

Perhaps the Christian religion has the answer. Do to others what you want done to you or the Confucianist. Do not do unto others what you do not want done unto you.

I often think back of the time when I was growing up, how happy I was, and how pleasant most people are.

Now amidst the skeleton in my closet, I say. We all cannot be perfect.

You see Data on Star Trek and wondered if the android would be better off being a real human being. If you do not, I do. Data cannot do what Deana Troy can nor No. 1 nor the captain of the Starship Enterprise when it comes to the decisions make taking human emotions, values, the pathos, the natural reactions into account.

What do you propose we do then?

There will be storage space, more memory cells activated.

Knowledge could be infused and renewed periodically through a connector to a computer or cadcom or cdrom terminal.

A self-activated switch with quality control options will be in the system to prevent bad effects.

There was a TV movie on this theme which was quite stimulating. The movie is called VIRTUAL REALITY.

I like the concept of enhancement of the brain powers preferably by natural methods but if with no bad side effects by artificial controls.

I also like the holograms on Star Trek the Next Generation. Suffice it to say the future whiz kid should have an IQ that rivals Einstein.

He could start with the works of the Nobel Prize winners and work his or her way up to the great inventors, statemen, leaders, etc.

The connector to the brain need not be a single point. It could be multiple point or the whole brain being innervated or activated. However, care must be exercised that pain would not be enhance the senses because I think pain is self-defeating.

Check into virtual reality.

The Chick found an Earthworm in the yard and bit a part of it.

It got sick so it left the Earthworm by itself.

The Chick carried the Earthworm and put it among the leaves and sometimes would come to play with it.

It would put the Earthworm on its feet and throw it in the air and catch it on its head with the Earthworm ends dangling near its ears.

It would put it across its beak and watch it wriggle.

The Earthworm burrows and sometimes sees GRAINS, BARLEY, OATS, and RICE.

The Chick follows it about and eats the others sparing the Earthworm.

So you see the Chick and the Earthworm respect each other live their own life separately and together.

Would you want to be the Chick or the Earthworm? WHY?

Campus Comedy-Christman and Cua

My husband was my graduate instructor in 4 subjects. I got A’s in all the 4 subjects-4 A’s so he took a fancy to me and we later married. He hired me into the office at the university but when the administration found out he was my supervisor, they laid me off since there is a rule against husband or wife being the supervisor of their respective spouse. I ws sad so my husband and I started a company of our own and 17 years later we are still working together.

My Grandmother

My grandmother was born and grew up in Fookien, China. She was the youngest of many siblings. She had her royal and her poor. She claims that one of her uncle was a Chinese noble in the court of the Manchu Emperor. She also earned her keep by sewing cloth shoes. She was bethrothed and married to one of the Cua-Qua clan. Her own family name was Ke. She was born in 1884 and died in 1979, at the age of 95.
She adopted and cared for my father who also was a child of the Cua-Qua clan. My father was
one of two they adopted. My uncle was older than my dad. My dad came with his parents to the Philippines in 1926 when he was 7 years old.
I am one of 9 children of my dad and mom.

My grandma loved with my uncle sometimes
and with us sometimes. She was the cashier of our bazaar branch. She was a widow when I was born. She loved her husband.

There were somethings she would not do. One of them was to sleep with her hair wet. Her husband said she will go crazy. The other is to have someone peep at her.

My grandmother also cared for my Aunt Fely until she was 13 years old.

She was born a Buddhist and prayed her beads and ate her food made of tofu, rice, noodles, gluten, and peanuts cooked o;n her own pots and pans with her own utensils. She wanted to be a Buddhist nun but my family would not part with her. A Chinese priest succeeded in converting her to Catholicism/

She reared cats and shows us how the cat would hide the kittens so they would not be found. She would have my brother follow the cat around to where the kittens are.

She reared pigeons and grew sampaguita and there was always champaca, everlasting and sampaguita for ancestor worship and food for the gods.

The ritual was interesting. There is prayers and they threw down two wooden tiles that were convex on one side and see how they landed. If they are the same face down, the ancestor was coming. If they are different then we had to wait.

We walk on tiptoes around the altar for the gods less they spent their ires on us.

We used to listen to my grandmother wax her homespun poetry.

One of them goes like this:

In the heavens (thi) there was lightning(tang), it fell and hit a man(lang) on the ground; the man(lang) was running(chow), hits the dog(kow); the dog(kow) was barking(poi), hits the pair(toi), the pair(toiP was banging on each other(ching), hits the lantern(ting); the lantern(ting) was a-blazing(khi), hits the chair(e); the chair(e) was sitting(tse), hits the blanket(pe), the blanket(pe) was bundling(ka), hits the duck(ah), the duck(ah) was being killed(tai), hits the navel of the old grandfather(lao pe kong-a e puchay).

The other goes like this (this s my mom’s):

There was a farmer whose carabao went into a shop and upset the wares on the stante or racks and was hauled into the court by the shopkeeper for reparation money.

In front of the judge, the farmer said: Senor Huiz, halimbawa(what if) di si kaliambao(carabao), gua si gu twa tao(carabao tender), ocho meses kinse diaz(August 15) pista know know know(feast of the saints), tuk tuk musico(music blaring), carabao takut(scared), pasok tindahan(enters the shop), gu twa tao says hoa-hoa, carabao upset all the stands.

The judge fined the carabao tender 10 pesos. Why?

Give up? Because the carabao tender said, halimbawa(what if) you are the carabao to the judge.

My grandma talked about streets that are there but have no wayfarers, house that are built but have no tenants, farms that have no farmers. She said that day will come when we will all be gone, so we have to be good. She was one of my soothsayers.

In front of me my grandmother gave my father back to his clan and my neighbor is the Qua uncle.

My father was a man of great aspirations for his children. He was an accountant and a businessman as well as a scholar in Chinese and English. My mother had deeper knowledge of Chinese literature. It has always been our responsibility to do well in school.

He was chief accountant of the Qua Chee Gan Coconut Plantation. He finished magna cum laude at Far Eastern University, accounting major. He would have finished summa cum laude had he resided in Manila instead of Tabaco, Albay and took correspondence school since he had to manage Tabaco Bazaar Branch.

I proposed to the Phii-Am Academy of Science and Engineering 30 years after its conception at Dr. Severino Koh's residence in Lafayette, Indiana near Purdue University the Virtual University.

A toast to Dad, my summa cum laude.

They charted our life's course but nevertheless left much to the assistance of others and our own initiative.

We never had to want for much although we were restricted in our economic freedom(or license). We all had our joint bank account. He took care of my mother in the most loving way and of us in a fair and just if disciplinary manner. He had characteristics that some of us children has inherited, e.g. "workoholic", bookishness, smarts, friendliness, suaveness.

Political wise, he was the translator for Vice Presidential candidate Emmanuel Pelaez when he campaigned in Tabaco, Albay where Senator Tecla San Andres Ziga, first female lawyer of the Phiippines and Congressman Venancio Ziga hailed from.

A Dream I had on September 23, 1985

A Dream I had on September 23, 1985

It concerns a mogul and his thriving empire and his daughter as well as his former sweetheart and her ailing empire.

They met in college during the depression, both
socialite. Twice they tried to get married, twice
he chickened out, went on a wild binge as a bachelor and never showed up. There was naturally a lull in the relationship then they got back together only to be separated by her trip to Europe and his getting a girl pregnant. He had to marry her. She died after 5 years in an accident while taking a joy ride from a young man. He had neglected her but not his daughter.

He is dying and he is proposing marriage to his former sweetheart through his daughter. He finally got the nerve to do so offering her the resuscitation his empire can give to hers plus a brand new 16 years old daughter to boot. She
had heard him talk before about her a lot of times. She has hated him then till she met her.
True she could nto compete with the efficient organization in the electronic age before but now she could. The employees who stayed with her were very loyal indeed.

Should she accept his proposal or not?

Miraculously, a dove alighted on her desk from nowhere.

She had a devil of a time letting go of the doves before at her failed second wedding.

That sort of clinched it and she married him. He died a very happy man one year later. She merged the companies.

Actually she let the big company gobble up her now small Company and the ending showed her on a bicycle ride with her new daughter to visit his grave with a pair of doves on a basinet.

Every person has a right to good, sound scientific, technological, and technical education. We would like your opinion on this subject, in order that we may better understand the role we can play as 'experts' in our field
of scientific endeavor.

On the issue of gender, I am of the opinion that there is indeed a difference between how men and women perceive science. What we need to delve into is why there is. The status quo will be maintained by men who in their excessive craving for superiority of the sexes try to force women into jobs where the mind rots, merely to enhance their masculine pride.

Previously and until now, scientific knowledge and technical expertise have not been handed down from male teachers to female student without the former’s demanding allegiance and subservience, whether professionally or personally. It is, therefore, essential that women be given the opportunity to teach in turn and be given the proper training to do so. Role models are fine and good. However, it is time to set criteria for comparison, paired in terms of gender or otherwise. Moreover, it is time to lay down the criteria as to who the role models would be.

We hope to know the rationale in setting the guidelines by which women and men, girls and boys would be considered compatible and symbiotic in their knowledge of math and science and their skills in the technical field.
Women can excel in all of the fields men excel in and more. They can bring forth biological life. Thus we need to know how men dull the intelligence, motivation, and skills of women by forcing upon them an inferiority complex., Then again, it could be the system which women and men should wage war against. The system of complicated dehumanization or fatal dissociation form realities and exigencies is a system that results in intellectual and experiental poverty and poor or lax training.

Society should press for equal opportunity regardless of gender. Actualization should have with it an accompaniment of good education. Patience and the will to learn should be inculcated at a very early age and continually emphasized. Intellectual love and affection for the subject of research should be developed in the right measure.

Math and sciences are the wellsprings of technological, economic, and political wellbeign for the population as a whole and for the individuals in the population. Enough said, for now.
